Edmonton Oilers force Game 7 in Stanley Cup Final

Oilers win Game 6 5-1

Panthers lead series 3-2

The Edmonton Oilers forced a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final with a 5-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Friday night at Rogers Place.

The Oilers got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first period. Connor McDavid opened the scoring with a power-play goal just over four minutes into the game, and Leon Draisaitl made it 2-0 with a goal at the 12:21 mark.

The Panthers got one back in the second period on a goal by Aleksander Barkov, but the Oilers restored their two-goal lead with a goal by Evan Bouchard just over three minutes later.

The Oilers added two more goals in the third period to put the game away. McDavid scored his second of the night on a power play at 10:28, and Draisaitl added an empty-net goal with 1:30 remaining.

Mike Smith made 31 saves for the Oilers, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 20 saves for the Panthers.

Game 7 is set for Saturday night at Rogers Place. The Panthers will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, while the Oilers will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990.
